About me

My name is Inge Kuijper.

I am passionate about the plant world, and love to learn and teach about everything that makes plants unique and essential for us to thrive. Plants provide us with every breath of fresh air, every drop of clean water, as well as our food, medicine, and healing. I want to share the knowledge and tools of ethnobotany to help repair the relationship between humans and plants, and help document and revive traditional knowledge of human cultures around the world.

For several years I have been on a self-directed path, learning about ecovillage design, permaculture and ecosystem restoration design, quantum botanicals, herbal medicine, aromatherapy, and shamanism. In 2021 I completed my MSc in ethnobotany at the University of Kent, writing my thesis about the significance of the sedge waste (Cyperus spp.) in Shipibo-Konibo culture.

Since completing my studies, I am enjoying exploring and teaching ethnobotany and my introductory online course has now been completed by over a hundred students. My current research focuses on the rich medicinal plant knowledge of the Sakalava ethnic group in Madagascar.

I live in Forest Row, Sussex, where I enjoy the Ashdown Forest, the seasonal celebrations, and our local ethnobotany!

Feel welcome to contact me with any requests about courses, workshops or potential collaborations!
